How do YOU Solve a Problem Like...

GOOD NEWS! There is a solution to EVERY problem. Mankind has proven this throughout the ages with creativity, innovation, and perseverance. If a problem has yet to be solved, it is just a matter of time, resources and sometimes serendipity.

First, identify the problem. If you don’t know what the problem is, the solution may be right in front of you and you wouldn’t even know it. Asking “what if...” is a powerful way to begin!

Second, don’t be discouraged by setbacks. Someone noted that Edison failed 10,000 times before he invented the light bulb. He replied that he just found 10,000 ways that won’t work. Now, that’s perseverance!

Third, do what YOU can but realize you don’t have to go it alone. There are many like-minded people who want to solve that same problem. It doesn’t take a genie or a genius...
Sometimes, it does take a village.

Rancho Cordova will recognize some volunteers who have stepped up and made a difference and Carmichael defied the odds and has brought a World-Class exhibit to our backyard. Visit BobsPocket.com for more “success stories”.

Beauty is in the Eye...

...of the Beholder; Art is from the Soul of its Creator. Henry Ward Beecher said “Every artist dips his brush in his own soul, and paints his own nature into his pictures.”

ART is the manifestation of human imagination, creativity, self-expression, individuality and connectedness and so should be celebrated as well as cultivated. How we express our art might be a “traditional” art form or it may be expressed in our garden, our kitchen, our keyboard, our business, or our “fingerprints” in the community...

I can truly say there can never be too much ART expressed in this World. The more we have, the more nurtured our Community will be: balanced, thriving, and loving. ART is, after all, our gift to our community, no matter what form it takes.

Where does the Art start? It starts with YOU!!

NOTE: the winds of change are starting to blow. Visit BobsPocket.com for updates on the “ARTS forecast”!

The Art Starts Here

Have you heard of that phrase? (Not likely, as I just made it up). It means that the source of beauty and creativity begins with each of us. Even if you don’t consider yourself an artistic person, you can support and enjoy the creativity of others and appreciate their contributions.

One place the “art starts” is at the Sacramento Fine Arts Center where the prestigious American Watercolor Society will exhibit 40 pieces selected from nearly 1200 submissions from around the world. This exhibit is touring museums and galleries across the country and will be in Carmichael for 7 weeks so we hope you will take advantage of this opportunity to see world-class art in your own backyard!

And stay tuned for more notices of where the “art starts”. Art expresses and nurtures our humanity, ergo we ought to have more of it around!

Art is all Around!

“Art enables us to find ourselves and lose ourselves at the same time.“ ~ Thomas Merton

And in this unique season which combines family, friends, spirituality, generosity, community, and hectic chaos all at one time, isn’t it nice that we have time and space available to “find and lose ourselves” as well as be able to share this Spirit with others? I consider these oases (plural for oasis... had to Google that) gifts themselves. Here are some “safe havens” that you should know about:

  • the Holiday Pop-Up Art Gallery at the Capital Village shopping center in Rancho Cordova featuring local artists through Dec. 13
  • a Pop Up Art Sale at the Sacramento Fine Arts Center in Carmichael December 12 from 5:30 - 8:30 pm and then continues through December 18
  • a FREE Holiday Concert by the Rancho Cordova Civic Light Orchestra on Friday, December 18 at the River City Christian Church (formerly named First Covenant Church) starting at 7:30 pm
  • the Annual SFAC Holiday Arts and Crafts Show on Saturday, December 19 & Sunday, December 20 from 10:00 am - 6:00 pm
  • the FALL SHOW art exhibit on display at Rancho Cordova City Hall through Jan. 17, 2016. It will be followed by “IMAGINE” opening on Jan. 28, 2016

And GOOD NEWS! We have pretty good intel that there is more ART to come in 2016. Visit BobsPocket.com for details on the above and what lies ahead!!

That OMG Moment!

We’ve all had them (that Oh-My-Gosh moment)... That split second when something hits you like a freight train (and hopefully in a good way). Like that moment in “The Sixth Sense”, that  “aha/light bulb” epiphany regarding a project or a problem.

It can be a sports moment, a life moment, a chocolate moment...
If you haven’t had the latter yet, I suggest you visit CapitalConfections.com... (tell them Bob sent you!)

And if you have been watching Rancho Cordova over the years, the transformation and growth of that new city has been astonishing and adds up to a big OMG! From cityhood in 2003, recognition as an All America City in 2010, the continual stream of events including
the inaugural installations in the Rancho Cordova Sports Hall of Fame just last month and the upcoming Christmas Tree Lighting on Nov. 29, Rancho Cordova continues to amaze and take a “Fresh Take” that gets double-takes. To learn all that has happened this past year as well as things to come, be sure to check out the “State of the City” Event on Nov. 12 at Rancho Cordova City Hall. Admission is FREE and you’ll also get “your piece of the pie”!

Check out BobsPocket.com for other potential OMG moments!
